Scaffolding and Relevancy - Bridging the Gap Between Middle School and High School in Urban/Mid-Urban Communities

While the transition from middle school to high school can be difficult for most students, the gap gets deepened and widened for students whose academic performance is marginal due to external factors such as lack of home support, at-risk factors, etc. This session will focus on strategies that middle level leaders and teachers can implement using current resources available in most urban/mid-urban schools. This session will address the components of classroom set-up, curriculum adaptation, student engagement, access to advanced placement programming.
